In a bout of frustration induced by being blocked from using my computer due to downloading, installing, updating, or some other task that should be handled in the background, I offer the following.
In the interest of outstanding user experiences, here’s our policy at There Is NO Box for employing system modal dialog boxes to force the users attention:
- Impending asteroid strike.
- Impending tsunami.
If we know you or your computer will be subject to annoyances such as asteroid strikes or tsunamis, we will certainly break your attention with a system modal dialog box. Otherwise, we assume you have better things to do than be annoyed by poorly designed software.
Please, no system modal dialogs. That’s so… last millennium.
